Julie helped us update a very important tip 21. Land on the mid foot! The best part of your foot to land on is mid foot. That way more of the shock of hitting the ground is absorbed before it can travel up your leg and cause shin splints, knee injuries, and even hip and back pain. I LOVE this. I always have to convince myself that even though I don't run very fast, I still run a whole lot more than most people. A woman at the last Marine Corps Marathon ran with me for a few miles and she was big on "if you run, you are a runner". Motivation to keep going. 1/2 marathon in 2 months, MCM 2013 in 7.
I had a dr's appt today with a runner. She told me to stop paying attention to the scale and pay attention to how I feel; keep running and my body will change in time. She said I had a nice, slow heartbeat like a runner. BEST EFFING FEELING IN THE WORLD.
