06/28/'12 This site containes some great ideas to motivate children to write, by providing them with authentic writing purposes. Examples include writing letters and making a holiday planner. Children will really enjoy these writing activities!

Is this comparable to Daily 5? Center cards (Writing, reading, computers, pocket chart, etc.)

Writing center. Have class names in a basket (and laminate)!

Writing Center Ideas - I think this particular board would work great! Give each child one of the 7 writing styles each week then rotate through them until everyone has had a chance to do each one. This will teach them the format for each kind of writing as well as give them an opportunity to practice writing, grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.

By having a writing center in the classroom, it creates a special place for students to create stories. There needs to be a variety of materials and resources, as well as organization.

love the idea of having examples of different types of writing - start them teacher made/found, then throughout the year you can replace them with student samples. :)

Literacy Center rotation idea. I like that the teacher used pictures instead of the children's names listed so that they can find there way to the next center if need be.
