On Monday, October 7, filmmaker Cheryl Dunye hosted a panel at Intersection for the Arts featuring Bay Area media artists whose work explores the personal as political.

Artists, community members, and friends gathered to celebrate the featured artists, make lanterns, write letters to those they have lost, create playlists of the songs of California, and more at the opening of the Califas Festival at Intersection for the Arts in San Francisco. Attendees also got a sneak peak of the upcoming Alleluia, The Road with performances by the cast and a reading of a José Montoya poem by Sean San José.
