I used to love these old Doris Day movies. By today's standards they're a bit "hokey" I guess, but I'd watch them again anyway ..... she was the "every woman," so natural and likeable ... like a lifelong friend.

1961. A Raisin in the Sun: based on Lorraine Hansberry play of same name. The first successful play on Broadway written by a black female playwright. Sidney Poitier, Claudia McNeil were nominated for Tony Awards for their performances in the Broadway production. Most of the movie cast for the movie also appeared in the Broadway production of the movie as well. Sidney Poitier, Claudia McNeil, Ruby Dee, Diana Sands & Ivan Dixon.
