Sequence of Events- Pitner's Potpourri: The Fire Cat -- Freebie

Cupcake Contraction Sort. Students can use this activity as an opportunity to learn what exactly contractions are. Art is used through choosing colors (warm/cool) to make their cupcake and designing it as they choose. Along with art students learn language arts and reading to learn what exactly each contraction is and using art to learn them. Grades 3rd to 5th can use this fun art activity.

I like to use manipulatives to help get the idea across. Plus, a student can do this activity solo while a partner does a different activity. Wrap up the lesson with creating relevant sentences.

I got this GREAT idea to start a Learning Journal with my kids from a teacher friend a couple of years ago. I'll try to "Pin" a picture of the learning journals. This would be a great activity to put in there!! Would also work the way it's laid out now.
