Water for Elephants. I listened to this audiobook while I was in Costa Rica riding the bus through the rain forest. So when I think about it, watch the movie, or tell people about it, I feel like I'm in Costa Rica again. It's so weird, but that's what happens.

Yet another book with Russian ties...this book is truly beautiful! It is split between three different stories and times that are all tied together. One must read this book when she has total quiet time and concentration because you have to keep so many things in mind for later reference. It's long, but worth it!

Ask for an ereader for a gift (or invest in one). Ebooks are cheaper than most print editions and you never have to pay shipping. This is great for when you can't get to the library, or their suppliers can't get you the books you ordered.

Such a beautiful story. I'm only half finished, and I love it already. The movie is good too, but the book is (as usual) better.

Only read nine of these so far. I think The Glass Castle is next, thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law who is the perfect person to recommend a book. I wish I had her in my classroom to cater to the continual requests for good recommendations in the genre of (fill in the blank).
