    Old Ranger Station at Alta, Montana. The "soddy" type log structure was common housing for settlers, and later adapted by Forest Service. You can rent these cabins for less than $15.00 per night all over Montana. Many are remote and require you hike, float via a river, or take horses back into the wilderness area they are located.
