Around December the name tags on the student desks start to look horrible. They start peeling up and coming off. I take them off the desks and the students just use the number on the back of their chair to know where to sit

Mrs. Terhune's First Grade blog awesome ideas

Love this idea for putting together portfolios of student work.

I just love how she has her units organized by theme! I'm using this idea on a project but think it'd be fantastic to implement in the classroom!

anchor chart storage - someone else mentioned to me that you can store the pieces to a unit in a suit bag in the closet/attic. Little pieces can be stored in a shoe holder on the same hanger. Then just pull out the suit bag when you are teaching the unit and store the rest. A great way to save space within your classroom!

OMgosh, I LOVE LOVE the idea of the take-home BINDER! My students crush EVERYTHING, so this is such an amazing way to keep everything organized and ready to keep...I would put a divider in, things that say 'mail', return to school', and 'keep home'. Also, hole punch a Friday Folder portfolio to keep in there...yay!

Mrs. Terhune's First Grade Site! I love this site! (She is a first grade teacher from Moore, OK.)

A Rockin' Good Time: a rock unit (anchor chart and writing activity). This would be a great way to show the different sizes and states of rocks. It would be very easy to make as well. One thing that I see wrong with it is I would find drawings of the different rocks so that the students could see them.

first grade helper. This was hard to find on her blog but I googled 'my first grade helper and easily found a PDF file of one similar to this
