The Witch's Daughter | "My name is Elizabeth Anne Hawksmith, and my age is three hundred and eighty-four years. If you will listen, I will tell you a tale of witches." | For some reason I cannot get enough magic and / or 18th century in my literature or films. This sounds like a perfect book for a fall reading list.
The Witch's Daughter - My name is Elizabeth Anne Hawksmith, and my age is three hundred and eighty-four years. If you will listen, I will tell you a tale of witches. this sounds interesting. I ACTUALLY read this. It was a good book. Books goes between reliving past to explain the future / present day story.
"... Bess Hawksmith is a modern witch, a fiercely independent woman desperate to escape her cursed history who must confront the evil which has haunted her for centuries..." "...My name is Elizabeth Anne Hawksmith, and my age is three hundred and eighty-four years. If you will listen, I will tell you a tale of witches. A tale of magic and love and loss. A story of how simple ignorance breeds fear, and how deadly that fear can be. Let me tell you what it means to be a witch..." : The Witch's Daughter by Paula Brackston.

truth. Feel this way about The Hunger Games movie. Disappointment, IMHO.
so true! keep hearing this about the hunger games. i agree that the movie was lacking a bit, but the book is so much more than that!
Never judge the hunger games by its movie
So true. My favorite #books made for terrible #movies! (Excepting Harry Potter, in which both books and movies were good but in different ways.)
True story. I have read so many books then have seen the movies and been disappointed.
Valley of the Dolls
Worth Reading, Dolls Book, Book Worth, Summer Reading, Movie, Favorite Book, Book Covers, Jacquelinesusann, Jacqueline Susann
Jacqueline Susann's sensational story of three pill-popping women (whom she modeled, rumor has it, after Judy Garland, Grace Kelly, and Marilyn Monroe) perfectly crystallized the decadence of the 1960s. Unavailable in paperback for over 15 years, the all-time bestselling work of fiction returns. Michele Lee has been cast to play Susann in a CBS made-for-TV movie in January 1998.
Valley of the Dolls [Book] - I wish the movie would have been more like the book instead of a quick abbreviation.
Valley of the Dolls book cover
When I'm reading any book, I generally flip back at some point and read the very last sentence of the book. I'm morbid and in case I die, I want to have some closure. I did that with this book about a third of the way in. It set up a very specific expectation that I went through the novel with. When I did get to the end, I felt slapped. It was great. It was more than great- it was amazing. This remains one of my favorite books of all time.

February Reading List | Sharp Objects (Gillian Flynn): Dark Places by Flynn was my favorite book in January. See my review here. Sharp Objects, Flynn’s first book, was written because she noticed the lack of female villains in books. I expect this book to be as dark and as full of twists as Dark Places and Gone Girl.

Sharp Objects | Gillian Flynn This was a tough one to read if, like me, you have difficulty observing self-destructive behavior. Two young girls have been killed in a small-midwestern town. Camille, with more than a few scars of her own, is sent to report on the tragedy. What transpires is a painful unfolding of dark secrets.
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. What a fantastic murder mystery! I really enjoyed this one!

RICSSON - This is a great book cover because it expresses the book title very well. As the element works quite well and the black and white background integrate quite good. The use of this sans serif typeface makes this book cover more vintage and classic and its supportive. The placement of the typefaces is simple and centered, it makes the book cover looks more simple and understandable.

In a novel set in an indefinite, futuristic, post-apocalyptic world, a father and his young son make their way through the ruins of a devastated American landscape, struggling to survive and preserve the last remnants of their own humanity.

Joseph Anton: A Memoir - another must-read on my growing book list
Joseph Anton by Salman Rushdie: Rushdie’s memoir describes his time in hiding after a fatwa was issued in response to The Satantic Verses. Rushdie lived under the alias “Joseph Anton” for 12 years, came up with a new life story, and turned excessively anxious. Scoop: Long but important. --Stacy
Joseph Anton by Salman Rushdie. On February 14, 1989, Salman Rushdie received a call from a journalist informing him that he had been "sentenced to death" by the Ayatollah Khomeini. It was the first time Rushdie heard the word fatwa. His crime? Writing a novel, The Satanic Verses, which was accused of being "against Islam, the Prophet, and the Quran."
