"The Dressmaker" by Kate Alcott -- “This novel follows the life of a young woman who survives the sinking of the Titanic. It’s historical fiction based on actual people and events that draws the reader into life in the New York City fashion world.” —Laura at KDL’s Service Center

The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott has all the necessary ingredients for a delicious tale - a runaway housemaid, scheming fashion designers, dashing gentlemen, a plucky girl reporter and an ill-fated cruise on the Titantic. The sinking of the Titanic occurs in the first 50 pages - the rest is about the aftermath in NYC following their rescue. Not very interesting, and with a predictable ending, I'm leaving this book on the bottom of the ocean, where it belongs. ~~ Houston Foodlovers Book Club

The Dressmaker. Not my favorite but still worth reading. Especially if you are a Titanic fan.
