#Motivation Giving students the language for participation is so important. Providing an anchor chart with alternatives to "I don't know!" gives them an opportunity for success, rather than to feel like they have failed. For students that need a more consistent reminder, making these on a bookmark is an excellent way to keep it in student's hands and the forefront of their minds.

Perfect for growth mindset!!! How to motivate your students to perform better and believe in themselves!
Reformat your teacher language to motivate students & encourage a growth mindset during the school year.
Growth Mindset--Print this out. Studies have shown that telling kids they are smart, can actually cause them to not work as hard. Try this!
Both Mrs. J and Mrs. V posted this image about how to motivate your students to perform better and believe in themselves! It illustrates the building blocks of building a growth mindset in our students. By doing so, we will transform students from being passive receptors of knowledge to active learners! (Drake et al., 2014)

This doesn't have to be use by teachers. It makes me so sad hearing my son tell me that he can't. I'm going to implement this very soon.
Don't accept "no" for an answer... I Do, We Do, You Do: I can't...I don't know... ***NOTE - I can't find the original source of this anchor chart...tried to do an image search, but still couldn't find the original post.*** (Whoever created this, it's AWESOME!)
I know these are great for kids when they are learning, but these same phrases work GREAT in relationships, too! Imagine how many arguments could be avoided!
Have students that are always saying "I can't" this anchor chart can help

Great bulletin board for the beginning of the year---Power of positive thinking! Have all the teachers sign it:)
This is a good example of a classroom poster for my classroom which promotes and supports teacher and student relations.
Dear Students.. Wish some of my teachers would have made this a classroom pledge... I will have this somewhere in my classroom:)
Great classroom sign... you are not just a teacher, you are there to care and comfort and plant the seeds for the future.
Dear students, I, your teacher, will reinforce the improper use of prepositions all year with this poster. Love, Mrs. Howdidipasscollege.

Your Job -vs- My Job: This is a great back to school activity. We met up at the small group table and discussed jobs that students might have, and the jobs a teacher has to do. We discussed what would happen if we didn't do these things? Once we created our anchor chart we all signed it as a contract reminding ourselves of the importance of being responsible and doing our jobs in the classroom.

This contract may be completely disregarded by older students but I personally think it might be a good idea to have younger students sign it and teach them to stand up for those being bullied and make them aware of the serious consequences of bullying.
Beginning of the year have each student sign an anti-bullying contract. Something teachers of all grades should be passionate about. @Candace Renee Shim

I use this for multiple students. It has worked very well to de-escalate students with behavior and emotional disorders. Eventually they don't need my help much and they can just self regulate in some cases which is what we work for! It is recommended they do this in a quiet area away from other students . A comfy soft seat can be helpful or a soft fidget while going through these steps serves to calm the student as well.
