Iron details on the door of a famous Art Nouveau building located 29 avenue Rapp, Paris 7th Architect: Jules Lavirotte Mosaics: Alexandre Bigot Construction: 1900

While most of the remaining Art Nouveau buildings in Paris are in the 16th arrondissement, it is in the reputedly staid 7th that we find one of the most extravagant examples. The hôtel particulier at 29, avenue Rapp, is considered the masterpiece of Jules Lavirotte, a fervent partisan of sexual symbolism in architecture

This beautiful building is one of a few buildings byJules Lavirotte located in 29 Avenue Rapp. Paris, France. This particular building won the Contest of façades of Paris) in 1901. The building’s front door looks like a piece of art itself and personally, it looks like taken out of fantasy. The wooden door looks carved perfectly to match the elaborated iron work to make a complete piece of art. Also, the door frame integrated in the building can be a piece of art itself.

29 avenue Rapp by Jules Lavirotte who designed this in 1901 for his friend Alexandre Bigot. Bigot was a ceramist and created the ceramic details himself, along with sculptor Jean-Baptiste Larrivé. It was said that the bust of the woman over the door is a portrait of Lavirotte's wife (check out the fur around her neck). Lavirotte won first place in the Parisian Facade competition of 1901 for this!
