When writing opinion pieces, students need to understand that it is more than just stating how they feel about a subject. There needs to be reasons and supporting examples for that opinion. This chart lists the important components of opinion writing and also adds a mnemonic device "OREO" to help them remember them. I like that there are examples of sentence starters at the bottom. These can help students use variety in their writing and make it more interesting to readers.

Accountable Talk anchor chart - however, I will not encourage my students to say "sort of" - partially is much better. Have to encourage good vocabulary whenever I can!
"Accountable Talk anchor chart." I liked the idea because I think that its a good reference for students to use when they need to communicate their ideas. I do think that it should be used as only a starting point . Students should be encouraged to come up with their own ideas and express ideas in original ways. A starting point displayed in the classroom is great way to get the conversation going.
