In this Nantucket living room, T. Keller Donovan turns tradition on its head: Wicker furniture has surprisingly modern silhouettes; the plaid rug has an oversize scale and he put a fresh spin on the classic convex mirror by painting it blue and white.
While this is labelled "Nantucket Cottage", it looks like a perfect Florida room. Wicker doesn't mean "spindly" or "delicate". My sun room features this type of wicker and I love it. (I'm prejudiced!)
For the coastal location, Coleman painted the living room a soothing watery blue-green, Farrow & Ball's Powder Blue. Love seats and sofa are covered in Scalamandré's Harper Matelassé. Tied Together Open floor plans present a decorating challenge: balancing the need to unite spaces while giving each zone a distinct vibe. Try tying spaces together with a soft accent color. Here, a soft blue from the living room's ottoman and throw pillows flows perfectly onto the stools lining the kitchen's breakfast bar.
