Wish I knew this sooner...... The newspaper will prevent any grass and weed seeds from germinating, but unlike fabric, it will decompose after about 18 months. By that time, any grass and weed seeds that were present in the soil on planting will be dead. It’s green, it’s cheaper than fabric, and when you decide to remove or redesign the bed later on, you will not have the headache you would with fabric.
White Feather Hosta -- An amazing new development - large pure white lush leaves emerge in late spring/early summer. Throughout the summer green streaks develop on the foliage creating an unusual yet beautiful effect. Lavender flowers in summer are just an additional bonus.
Lavender’s natural habitat is the hot, sandy soil of Provence- so if you forget to water your plants, they’re even happier! If you don’t have room for a garden, maybe you can find a little space for a pot of lavender near your front door. Every time you brush by it, you’ll have the fabulous scent of Provence in the air.
