The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House - The Residence gives an account of the service staff at the White House from the Kennedys to the Obamas. Even though there have been a few Presidents I was not particularly fond of, it was nice to gain some insight into their true character. The staff reveals daily life in the White House as it is really lived through their own voices....the maids, butlers, cooks, florists, doormen, etc. It was nice to read about the intimacy between the First Family and the people who serve them and fell in love while service President Reagan to Jackie Kennedy's private moments of grief after the assassination of JFK. This is a fun book and gives great insight in what it takes to run the White House....a different view of White House life.
