This is a mid 19th century Scottish mourning brooch, set with four facet cut citrines around a central compartment. Opening this reveals a lock of hair in the shape of a flower, embellished with thread. The reverse of the brooch has an open glass panel behind which is more hair. The front of the brooch is engraved all over with scrolls, and the cover of the locket is engraved with initials. It measures 5.2cm in diameter, weighs almost 27g, and is unmarked.
