In Celtic regions of Ireland and later in Great Britain, many free-standing upright crosses (or high crosses) were erected by Irish monks, beginning at least as early as the seventh century. Irish culture and Ireland have always grabbed my attention. I went once when I was 8 and it was the most spectacular place I have ever been. Experiencing other cultures and places around the world is not only something I enjoy but a very important aspect to tolerance around the world.
