Our book club had a great discussion about The Help by Kathryn Stockett. I loved the book AND the movie.
The Help: Movie Tie-In by Kathryn Stockett, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002YKOXB6/ref=cm_sw_r_pi_dp_rnCFpb0EB6JEA
Oh, this was good. I've seen the movie, too.Our very own "BGHS '63 Book Club" The Help - Kindle edition by Kathryn Stockett. Literature & Fiction Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.
The Help. A recent book club selection. It was an incredible read...I laughed, I cried...literally. The emotional attachment I felt to the characters was amazing. It's unbelievable that this is the author's first novel. FYI, while the movie was good in it's own right, there really is no comparison: The book is BETTER! (no surprise there!)
Loved it so much I HAD to go see the movie!! The Help by Kathryn Stockett, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002YKOXB6/ref=cm_sw_r_pi_dp_Z7lNsb1ANFN71
The Help by Kathryn Stockett. This is also the first movie I have ever seen that may be better than the book.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett- I LOVED this book. Read it in one day about a year and a half before the movie came out. The movie is good too, but books are ALWAYS better
The Help by Kathryn Stockett. One of my absolute favorite Books!

Worth Reading, God, Shack, Books Worth, Amazing Book, Favorite Books, Paul Young
The Shack By: WM. Paul Young Completed: July 11, 2009 250 pages (Provided a very touching and interesting view on God; “Three in One”. After hearing how AMAZING this book was, I was a bit disappointed, but on the other hand the story was a good one.)
The Shack is an amazing book that gives a whole new insight on what a relationship with God can really be like! I LOVED IT!
The Shack by Wm. Paul Young (2007) - An interesting take on god's relationship with one man. It's a unique idea combined with good writing and characters. I found it lovely and would read it again.
The Shack by Wm. Paul Young. this treasure of a book is about living in a broken world filled with tragedy and finding the hope and peace that only our amazing God can give.
The Shack by William P Young -Originally self-published as a fictional faith memoir of sorts for his children, this book has made it to the bestseller's lists. Mr. Young makes you look at your brokenness and God's goodness from a new angle...one of my favorite books.
Paul Young's "The Shack" gives you a different overview from God. it takes away many preconceptions of God and makes you understand he's warm, forgiving, compassionate and loving above all.
The Shack... THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS EVER. LOVE THIS STORY ON HOW GOD RESTORES.
Amazing book & this quote says it best: "The Shack is a one of a kind invitation to journey to the very heart of God. Through my tears and cheers, I have been indeed transformed by the tender mercy with which William Paul Young opened the veil that too often separated me from God and from myself. With every page, the complicated do’s and don’t that distort a relationship into a religion were washed away as I understood Father, Son, and Holy Ghost for the first time in my life." ~ Patrick M. Roddy, Emmy Award Winning Producer of ABC News

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee; one of my all time favorite books!!
Definitely worth reading. Multiple times over.
"Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." A lawyer's advice to his children as he defends the real mockingbird of Harper Lee's classic novel—a black man charged with the rape of a white girl. Through the young eyes of Scout and Jem Finch, Harper Lee explores with rich humor and unswerving honesty the irrationality of adult attitudes toward race and class in the Deep South of the 1930s. The conscience of a town steeped in prejudice, violence, and hypocrisy is pricked by the stamina and quiet heroism of one man's struggle for justice—but the weight of history will only tolerate so much. Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. Riveting and timely....the horrors of a school shooting, the intertwined characters and their own stories, the message. Jodi Picoult has quickly become one of my favorite authors.
By far my favorite Jodi Picoult book and in my top five favorite books ever read. It is a gut wrenching novel about a school shooting. Picoult is an amazing author that can take a black and white situation and form an area of grey in your mind
This is one of my favorite Jodi Picoult book. It's about a 17-year-old high school student who has been bullied for years, and one final incident pushes him over the edge and leads him to commit school shooting.
One of my favorite Jodi Picoult books. It really opens your eyes to both sides of the story. In society today, school shootings and bullying are a hot topic and this book explores both sides of the story, and you find yourself having compassion and empathy for the side that is not always seen in a positive light.
Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. School shootings similar to what happened at Columbine High. I love the way this story is told from the points of view of the victims and their families, as well as the shooter and his family - you get insight into the events that shaped the shooter into the sort of person who could do this, as well as the impact on his family and all affected by the shootings.
The pressures of high school and a school shooting are all rolled into one in this book. And I've all the other Jodi Picoult books I've read.
The first Jodi Picoult book I read (thanks, Laurie McCall!). Haunting tale of a school shooting... and the bullying that was its catalyst.
Nineteen Minutes: A Novel by Jodi Picoult. A New Hampshire town is shattered by a high school shooting. How did this happen?
Nineteen Minutes Jodi Picoult... Anything by Jodi picoult is worth reading.

On September 18, 2007, computer science professor Randy Pausch stepped in front of an audience of 400 people at Carnegie Mellon University to deliver a last lecture called “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams.” With slides of his CT scans beaming out to the audience, Randy told his audience about the cancer that is devouring his pancreas and that will claim his life in a matter of months. I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb. I loved his other two novels, and this one is about Columbine, which is a very interesting subject.
Favorite book! Wally Lamb's I Know This Much Is True is a story of alienation and connection, devastation and renewal, at once joyous, heartbreaking, poignant, mystical, and profoundly human. “It is all connected Dominick," she said. "Life is not a series of isolated ponds & puddles; life is this river you see below, before you. It flows from the past through the present on it's way to the future.”

My Sister's Keeper - Jodi Picoult AMAZING story. If you've seen the movie and haven't read the book, you're a fool. The movie failed to do the book justice.
My Sister's Keeper. As always the movie is no where near as good as the book. But this was the first Jodi Picoult book I read. I cried, and knew I had to read more.
'My Sister's Keeper' Jodi Picoult (better than the movie and so glad I read the book years ago before watching the movie)
Jodi Picoult has penned many good books that explore human nature and relationships, including "My Sister's Keeper," but be warned that they are usually tear-jerkers! Side-note: the movie based on this books ends much differently than the actual book.
Jodi Picoult - My Sisters Keeper I didn't like the movie much because it ended much different than the book but the book is a great read.
My Sisters Keeper - By: Jodi Picoult. I read the story then watched the movie. READ the book, the movie sucks!! Make sure you have a box of tissues by your side.
My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Soooo amazing. My favorite book.
Book worth reading. Dont waste your time on the horrible movie!
currently listening to this as a book on tape. It borders on surreal, incredible story of Mexican tribe that are super runner athletes. I wonder how we don't know this/how the world has kept this hidden? Also discussed: barefoot running, the evolutionary reason for running (how human bodies are built to be runners- definitely long distance)
Two loves combined

Born to Run - a book that incorporates the love and the physiology of running. Great book to read if you're thinking of starting a regular running regime.
BORN TO RUN, by CHRIS MCDOUGALL, a Harvard lab scientist and one-time foreign correspondent for the Associated Press (he spent 3 years covering civil wars in Rwanda and Angola). McDougall decided to study the secrets of the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico, who have honed the ability to run hundreds of miles without rest or injury. Can their secrets apply to athletes all over the world?
Worth it. Even if you don't jive with barefoot running, the research is amazing and the writing style is hilarious.
