Easy to do for class or Sunday brunch with your girls. Tease the hair on top of the crown of your head for some volume. Grab the hair closest to your ears and twist or braid and tie with a clear elastic band. Simple and so cute

Start this like a regular braid, but drop the top piece through to the bottom and leave it there. Gently twist the 2 pieces you’re left with upward. Add a new 3rd piece in between + drop it through. Twist again and repeat. Keep going until you get to the back. Tie it with a clear elastic, tuck the end under, and secure with a bobbypin.

Best thing is; it’s easy to do, gorgeous and keeps your hair out of your way for the night. I made this a printable tutorial, so all of the steps are next to the photos. Enjoy! Tools you’ll need: curling iron (to prep the hair with waves), sectioning clips, teasing comb or brush, clear elastic rubber band, bobby pins, light to medium holding hairspray (to mist over at the end).

1. Use a 1″ curling iron to curl everything under. This will make it easier to tuck pieces into the bun 2. Flip your hair over and gather everything into a ponytail on top of you head, securing it with an elastic ponytail holder. Step 3: On the last time around with the ponytail holder, only pull the ponytail through half way. 4. Take the loop you’ve created and spread it out. Just widen it and allow it to be somewhat messy. 5. Take the tail end and wrap it around the ponytail base.

THE FUN BUN aka how to do a top knot. this is actually really easy for short-ish hair too! just a few more bobby pins keeping the hair up top.

Side braid. Seems obvious, but I always seem to add too much hair along the way down and then it looks weird.

Prim and Proper bun. This could be the perfect choice if you are running from work to a party. Throw some jewelry, a little black dress and sweet honey be ready...

I tried this last night when the kids were in bed, just to see if it's that easy and it is. I did 8 sections instead of 4 and I got a ton of volume with my short hair. Also, I did a side part because I don't like a middle part on me. I did not realize the trick to curling was doing it all in the same direction and a flattering direction at that.

after looking at it for a minute, finally figured it out. now just need a litttle more length!

I need to remind myself to do things like this when I'm having a bad hair day...which is all the time when I don't feel like using a straightener
