Fabulous TIME cover. Women who have breastfed (whether it is for a day, week, month or years) are powerful. This picture captures it in a way that is more conventionally applied to other situations...rarely do you see a breastfeeding photo that is not focused primarily on the nurturing aspects of it...the unexpected contrast is a bit jarring but beautiful. Not so sure about the tag line though. It's hardly 'extreme' to breastfeed a three year old.

Everyone has an opinion. MIne is: Teeth mean it's time for food. That's nature. When a child is old enough to ask for some T......, it's not natural, it's not motherly, it's gross! Breast feeding is beautiful and natural and for infants. That's my opinion. Of course what you do with your boobs and your kids is your business, unless of course you publish it on the cover of a magazine!

Even animals know when to ween their young, this is more for the mother than for the child, if that mom feeds him nutritional food then he has no need to breast feed

What is this world coming to?!? This to me is mind bloggling. Why would anyone want to do this and in public? This child is going to grow up thinking its ok to ask his mom to Brest feed when it's completely wrong after a certain age. This makes me sick. I wonder how much she got paid to do this?

I'm seriously confused about why this is gross but babies (up to...teeth?) is OK? My baby had teeth at 4-5 months and she was still exclusively breast feeding. Some babies are born with teeth. This kid has no concept of sexuality. This is not his main food source. There are health benefits beyond 1 year for mothers and children. Don't know if this is the case here, but sometimes moms extend breastfeeding to give important antibodies to very sick kids. It's jarring because you are not used to seeing it. To accuse this mother of abuse or sexual intentions is way over the line, imo.

Breastfeeding is an unsentimental metaphor for how love works, in a way. You don't decide how much and how deeply to love - you respond to the beloved, and give with joy exactly as much as they want.

Breastfeeding benefits for toddlers.

Hahahaha. It's true. I just watched a Halloween movie and he'd pop up in front of people when they were running way ahead of him.

We have to take a photo like this before we leave Monterey.

Breastfeeding Benefits Beyond One Year --- very rarely do you hear about nursing past a year, since that is when toddlers can have regular milk instead of formula. This is an interesting take on the additional benefits
