50 years ago on this very day (June 24), my dear and beloved favorite poet Sylvia Plath took her life at the age of 30. I admire her for the way she could look at the world and understand it in such a treacherous, beautiful fashion. Syl makes me want to write and live and love and understand the world intently, and to do it with happiness and abandon. She may have ended tragically, but Syl makes me want to live as happily as possible. Resurgam.

The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald | One of my favorite books, made me start to believe I would have liked to live in the 1920s...
I read this when I was a teenager, I enjoyed at the time, but can't really remember what it was about! Maybe this is another book I could do with re-reading, ;px (F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby. Design: Hannes Beer).
F. Scott Fitzgerald's 'The Great Gatsby' is one of my all time favs! I've been excited ever since I heard Baz Luhrmann was making a new movie version so I'm eagerly awaiting its release.

If you've read Kathryn Stockett's The Help, you'll want to see her all-time favorite reads! #books #summerreading
This is from the Writer’s Digest and Stockett talks about the process of getting her book published. She tried for three and a half years and over that time she applied to many agents and received over sixty rejection letters. She talks about how many of times she wanted to give up on getting the book published and how her fortieth rejection letter made her cry. She was very determined and dedicated to get this book published and is now shocked that it was a number one best seller.

Book stores are becoming non conforming. As it's not cool to read books with your hands. The future kids will never know how great a books feels in your hands. I love books and not on a iPad etc. save the books.

Ohhh man! How I LOVE old book stores! When I was collecting those hard to find obscure books, I'd travel and visit so many of these! IT truly was a great adventure! I absolutely had no idea what i would find! And i found some true gem's. Some times, I even found what i was looking for! LOL
I love little bookshops. They have old books you will never find in a regular book shop and maybe not even online

“These two sections [of Irène Némirovsky's Suite Française], plus some of the author's notes, are all we have ─ this in itself is a tragedy and waste of war. Had this novel been finished we would be hailing it as one of the supreme works of literature. As it stands, it is like a great cathedral gutted by a bomb. The ruined shell still soars to heaven, a reminder of the human spirit triumphing despite human destructiveness.”

Life of Pi by Yann Martel | was given this for my 23rd b'day, BEST PRESENT EVER | happy to make the statement that this is my favorite book ever, although the end was pretty trippy (what am I talking about, the whole thing was trippy) | haven't seen the movie yet, although I've heard great reviews | SK
Life of Pi by Yann Martel - Read it now, if you still didn't. The movie is coming out on November 21

Michelle always takes advantage of time away from the White House to re-read her favorite books, like Yann Martel's Life of Pi
2012 - Yann Martel - Life of Pi. I had run out of books when a colleague offered me full raid of their bookshelf before a long commute home. I'd heard about it and it has been on my 'to read' list, now I find it's very soon to be released as a film. Fantastic! Love reading the book before the film. I love this book - you wonder how far a book about a shipwrecked boy in a boat with a tiger can go, but I'm certainly still entertained :)
Very good book; great book club discussion, also
