19th Century Polychrome Geisha Netsuke Signed // Removing Hair Pin Signature: Hoyuki. A rare, well executed poly-chrome netsuke, depicts an apprentice geisha in the midst of removing her hair pin. Her feminine movements are skillfully rendered in the folds of material, as is her hair, finely carved kanzashi stuck through to keep its shape together. A red nagajubon, an indication of her apprentice rank.
