Name Rockets - Beginning of the year name activity. Can incorporate counting backwards and write numbers beside the rocket. Students will work on cutting out shapes as well as letter recognition.

I love this "Shake of the Day" for CVC words and the special student of the day gets a 'smartie' for shaking a CVC word :)

I'm totally making this!  Put rice and ABC beads in a bottle, and the kids shake the bottle and color in the letters they see, until they've colored in all the letters.

ABC Centers: Fill a bottle with rice and letter beads. Students color the letter as they find it in the bottle. Could maybe use sight words instead of letters.
