Casino (1995). Long - but really draws you in. Based on a true story about mob's involvement with Las Vegas in the 70's and early 80's. The violence is strong, but you can cover your eyes if you are squeamish like me. The violence is scattered throughout - but doesn't overtake the movie. Check out Vegas the way it used to be...Oh...and the music is great!
Mob movies from the 80's and 90's were perfect guy flicks. The beat down put on Pesci in the corn field is still disturbing after seeing it all these times.

This Martin Scorsese film depicts the Janus-like quality of Las Vegas--it has a glittering, glamorous face, as well as a brutal, cruel one. Ace Rothstein and Nicky Santoro, mobsters who move to Las Vegas to make their mark, live and work in this paradoxical world. Seen through their eyes, each as a foil to the other, the details of mob involvement in the casinos of the 1970s and 80s are revealed. Ace is the smooth operator of the Tangiers casino, while Nicky is his boyhood friend and tough st

Many film directors have included casino scenes in their movies. Some, like our first two choices below are all about casinos and gambling, while in others the casino is merely incidental to the action. You can find many movie themed games on online casino like Lucky Nugget as well, they always influence each other. Here is a selection of what we consider to be the top 5 all time casino scenes. Casino Casino is probably the best movie ever made about, well, casinos. The film, released in 1995, was directed by Martin Scorsese and starred amongst other Robert de Niro, Sharron Stone, Joe Pasci and Frank Vincent. Most of the characters were based on real life people, and the plot centred around De Niro as Sam "Ace" Rothstein (Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal in real life) who was employed by the Chicago mob to run their Las Vegas casino, and his wife Ginger (in real life Geraldine McGee Rosenthal). The best casino scene is hard to call, but our favourite is the “Get your feet off the table” scene in which Ace throws out the cowboy who works for his friend Nicholas "Nicky" Santoro. Indecent Proposal Indecent proposal is all about a different sort of gambling – gambling with your heart, but who can really blame Robert Redford for falling for Demi Moore, but was she really worth a million dollars? The casino scenes are a little naff, but the one where Demi kisses the dice before rolling an 11 is irresistible and more than a little sexy. Casino Royale Muck of Casino Royale concerns a game of Texas Hold'em between Bond and the terrorist banker Le Chiffre. Bond’s aim is to beat Le Chiffre in the tournament and bankrupt him, and then persuade him to work for MI6. The buy in is $10 million and initially Bond loses. Although his banker Vesper Lynd refuses to advance him $5m for a re-buy, a CIA agent offers the money in exchange for custody of Le Chiffre. Bond of course wins in the end, and the best casino scene in the movie is the final hand where Bond wins with a nut straight flush. Rain Man One of the best card counting casino movie scenes was that in the Barry Levinson directed move Rain Man starring Dustin Hoffman as the autistic Raymond Babbitt who had savant talents including a photographic memory, and his exploitive brother Charlie played by Tom Cruise. The scene is set in a Las Vegas casino and Raymond is counting cards in a game of Blackjack, winning a large amount of money. 21 Anyone who has played blackjack seriously will enjoy the movie about the famous blackjack card counting team from MIT which used team counting to win a considerable amount of money, initially from casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic city but eventually worldwide, that is until they were banned from every casino in the world. Not really a great movie in itself, but still a very good one. Best scene? Difficult one, but probably the one where the supposed high roller goes on tilt and nearly throws the whole plan.
Recently Roger Ebert released his list of top 10 films of all time. I have great respect for the man and his knowledge of the medium. It has been sad to see him deal with his health struggles which have silenced his voice forever. But, his brain is still sharp, and through reading his books, I have learned a lot about film. Here is his list: Aguirre, Wrath of God (Herzog) Apocalypse Now (Coppola) Citizen Kane (Welles) La Dolce Vita (Fellini) The General (Keaton) Raging Bull (Scorsese) 2001: A Space Odyssey (Kubrick) Tokyo Story (Ozu) The Tree of Life (Malick) Vertigo (Hitchcock) Here is the link to Ebert's list: http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2012/04/the_greatest_films_of_all_time.html Lists like this are challenging since tastes change over time. My list is more like my favorite films of the past 40 years, since I have not seen many "old" movies, although Citizen Kane and Rebel without a Cause were amazing. I have not viewed the number of films that Ebert has, but here is my list of the top 10 films that have had the most effect on me. Taxi Driver (Scorsese) Casino (Scorsese) The King of Comedy (Scorsese) The Godfather (Coppola) Scarface (DePalma) Manhattan (Allen) Annie Hall (Allen) Schindler's List (Spielberg) Almost Famous (Crowe) Wall Street (Stone)

Marlon Brando, Actor: The Godfather. Marlon Brando is widely considered the greatest movie actor of all time, rivaled only by the more theatrically oriented Laurence Olivier in terms of esteem. Unlike Olivier, who preferred the stage to the screen, Brando concentrated his talents on movies after bidding the Broadway stage adieu in 1949, a decision for which he was severely criticized when his star began to dim in the 1960s and he ...

The Bourne Supremacy (2004) on IMDb: Movies, TV, Celebs, and more...
Stars: 3 out of 5 Pros: Engaging plot Cons: Wooden characters, poorly edited action scenes The Bottom Line: Some mindless action While not truly amazing It can entertain Jason Bourne is Back It's amazing what you'll watch when the price is right. I wasn't a fan of the first movie in the series. But one of my roommates owns The Bourne Supremacy. Since I could watch the sequel for free, I figured why not. I must say I found this movie better in some ways but worse in others. Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) is in hiding. After successfully evading the CIA in the first film, he and girlfriend Marie (Franka Portente) are living in India. Jason still doesn't remember very many details about who he is. But he keeps having dreams that may give him a clue. Unfortunately, he's about to be thrust back into the spy game. A mission is going on in Berlin. When it goes south, Pamela Landy (Joan Allen) wants answers. The trail leads to a buried CIA project. Meanwhile, Bourne has started moving again and he trips the radar, bringing the CIA down on him. Can he figure out why they are suddenly interested in him? What do his dreams mean? Will he get another piece of the puzzle of who he is? My biggest complaint about the first movie was believability. Specifically, I found the characters behaving in some pretty stupid ways to advance the plot. Fortunately, that wasn't an issue here. The plot is very dense and you have to be paying attention the entire time to figure it out. But if you are, you can. Everything that happens follows logically from what has happened before. Unfortunately, the characters are still pretty wooden. This is a plot driven movie, and the characters are just there to advance the story. Bourne stands out from the crowd, mainly due to Damon's great acting. But the rest of the characters aren't given much to do. The acting, on the other hand, is great. Matt Damon sets the tone with his great performance as Jason Bourne. Everyone else does the best they can with what they have. If we aren't connecting with the characters, it's because of the plot heavy script and not because of poor acting. So what's my big beef this time? The camera work. I read that the director was aiming for the documentary look so used hand held cameras for the majority of the film. I've got news for you. This isn't a documentary, nor is anyone every going to mistake it for one. I don't know why directors think it's trendy to show shaky camera work, but I don't enjoy it. Even worse are the action scenes. I think my roommate described it best when he said it had the strobe light effect. The cuts are so quick, like every couple of seconds, it is literally impossible to follow what is happening half the time. And since you watch a movie like this for the action, that's a disappointment. Again, this is a stylistic approach. And again, it doesn't work. Ultimately, The Bourne Supremacy is pretty much a wash. It isn't the worst way to spend a couple hours, but there are better ways.

" The Terminator 1984 10 out of 10 "Are you Sara Conners?" Continuing Arnold week. The Terminator....Arnold made his big leap to superstar status with The Terminator films. Uttering his robotic lines to perfection The Terminator: The .45 long slide, with laser sighting. Or complicated dialogue like..... The Terminator : Get out. He strutted around the movie as an unstoppable killer robot from the future. Sent back to prevent John Conner from being born.. Sure there are holes in the time Travel logic and many questions one could ask about the Time travel loop that doesn't make sense......but who cares the movie is kick-ass Great sci-fi classic film that really launched his career. This film would begin Arnold's domination as the go to 1980's action star. T-2 Judgement Day 1991 10 out of 10 Arnold was back all right....and even more kick ass than before at the height of his fame....James Cameron really rolled out one of the best action movies of all-time with this sequel. A leap in special effects with the liquid Terminator....This time Arnold was too popular to be a villian. But he still kicked ass. With fun cheesy lines mixed into the non-stop action. Terminator "Hasta la vista, baby. " This should have been his last Terminator film....but they all do one film too many because of the payday....and T-3 was not as good. Because I am interested in cinematography, I find the images in this movie especially powerful, and while the plot itself doesn't speak to me, I find the images and artistic choices intriguing.
The Silence of the Lambs (1991): This film is not for the faint of heart...it features Dr. Hannibal Lector, a psychologist with Antisocial Personality Disorder (played by Anthony Hopkins) whose help is enlisted by FBI agent Clarice Starling (Jodi Foster) in tracking down a serial killer.
El silencio de los inocentes (1991) A young FBI cadet must confide in an incarcerated and manipulative killer to receive his help on catching another serial killer who skins his victims. Director: Jonathan Demme Writers: Thomas Harris (novel), Ted Tally (screenplay) Stars: Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins and Lawrence A. Bonney
The Silence of the Lambs is a 1991 American thriller film that blends elements of the crime and horror genres. It was directed by Jonathan Demme and stars Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, Ted Levine, and Scott Glenn. It is based on the 1988 novel of the same name by Thomas Harris, his second to feature Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer.

One of my FAV movies!!
Film posters have always had one big drawback: They're static images that are trying to advertise moving pictures. Now that we live in the future, we can have the best of both worlds—movie posters that are animated GIFs.
Directed by Jonathan Demme. With Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, Lawrence A. Bonney, Kasi Lemmons. A young F.B.I. cadet must confide in an incarcerated and manipulative killer to receive his help on catching another serial killer who skins his victims.

IT'S COMPLICATED (2009) My favorite movie- When attending their son's college graduation, a couple reignite the spark in their relationship...but the complicated fact is they're divorced and he's remarried.
It's Complicated - I like Meryl Streep, but frankly, I was disappointed in the movie. Everyone I talked to said it was such a funny movie. I think I laughed ONCE ... Oh well ...

one of my fav movies
Directed by Nancy Meyer Starring Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin by Tim Rousseau Having struck a seedy back alley deal with the missus, I found myself sitting down in the theater to watch "It's Complicated." This is the newest film modern menopause cinema has to offer and who better to bring it to us than Nancy Meyer, the poster girl of the movement. With her last outing "Something's Got to Give", I was surprised by the humor and relieved by its wit. By the end of the movie I was sold into wanting for these characters. Not the case with this one. The setting is similar, beautiful home and countryside, swap east coast for west coast, everyone walks around eating pastries and drinking white wine. Money doesn't seem to be a problem. In fact, there aren't really any problems with these people.......and that's when things get COMPLICATED. Meryl Streep is the cougar with the heart of gold and Alec Baldwin is the douche bag, absent, full of sh!t father who somehow isn't responsible for any selfish thing he does. Steve Martin is the nice guy doormat. Well, you can see where I'm going with this, it's time for a fifty-something love triangle! They've been divorced for 10 years. He's remarried to the mistress, she's lonely but oh so brave and independent. They screw, she feels guilty, he doesn't. All sorts of hijinks ensue, and all the while she's kinda sorta dating Steve Martin. Most of the screen time is dedicated to Alec Baldwin bullshitting his way into Meryl Streep's granny panties and it only gets thicker and more absurd. Ladies, imagine your man laying in bed with you on a Sunday morning trying to get some nookie. You know, just laying it on thicker and thicker till you just give it up to shut him up. Well, there's 2 hours worth of it here, just in case you ever wanted to know how divorcee's get down. This may sound like the ranting of an angry boyfriend forced to watch a chick flick, and well... it is...but it's also the voice of someone trying to reach out. I want to like these films, comrades, I do but the chick flick is a subtle art. When done properly it will persuade and move the male to see more Romcoms, even oddly looking forward to the next one. Characters are everything and this one didn't have any that I even cared about. I have a feeling this film is more realistic than I want to admit. About divorce, about growing older, about re-discovering social rites in a world that has changed. Maybe I judge it too harshly. It wasn't a bad movie by any stretch. There was even a funny marijuana sequence involving Steve Martin being, well, Steve Martin which unlike Alec Baldwin's schtick will never get old. FORCE THE BOYFRIEND: 6 out of 10 (men will like this more than they think but will grow tired of Alec Baldwin) Beer Pairing Recommendation It was so complicated I couldn't chose a specific beer...much like Meryl had a hard time picking a man For more on this chick flick, visit IMDB
