The Fairytale Cottages of Carmel Number 7 is an older cottage with a dutch door. The weather is such that the top half of the doors are often left open.

Cottage style playhouse with steam-bent wooden shingles, custom redwood windows and doors and handmade leaded glass windows. Inside has hardwood floors and fireplace. By Robert Mahrer of RMGC.

The owners brought in natural granite to emulate the native landscape, covered the exterior in dark-stained cedar shingles and stone, and opted for a gambrel roof that allows for a semi second storey without towering above the trees.

This is my dream!! From an old Cottage Living article, clipped for inspiration as the owner was a single lady on a tight budget who saved, bought and did all the renno herself. Inspiration!

Colonial cottage by the sea ~ dream come true! Love the fencing and the stone walkway too. No fireplace required ~ unless it was electric with the faux brick on top for decoration. Seems a bit wasteful though.

Soft shades of gray repeated in the cottage colors and ... the flowers clamoring up the doorway. #cottage#romantic

This reminds me of my first house in England...quaint Dove Cottage :)
