Stampin' Up! ... handmade card: Modern Wetlands ... black and white ... patterned papers ... goose amongst the grasses ... like the layout ...
Greetings, all! I was not able to make or post a card yesterday for good reason. My DH has been in the hospital with heart problems for the last several days and yesterday he had a quadruple bypass surgery performed. I didn't want to talk about it until after it was done because I was too scared! Thankfully he came out of the surgery with flying colors, and by evening we were watching Wheel of Fortune and then the Yankee game together. Phew, I'm so relieved! I'll keep you posted on his progress. I do have a simple card to share with you this morning before I head back over to the hospital. I already had the focal image stamped and waiting for some additional inspiration, so the card came together in a flash. I love how the Wetlands stamp set looks in a neutral color scheme and combined with the geometric patterns of the Modern Medley DSP. My inspiration was found at this weeks Retro Sketches challenge, but then again, their sketches always inspire me! For my focal image, first I stamped the goose in Black Stazon onto Naturals Ivory Card Stock. I stamped again onto scrap paper, and cut the second image out for a mask. I adhered it over the first image with temporary adhesive, then stamped the grasses in Sahara Sand. Stampin' Up Products Used: Stamp Sets: Wetlands Card Stock: Naturals Ivory, Basic Black Designer Series Paper: Modern Medley Ink Pads: Black Stazon, Sahara Sand Tools: 3/16" Corner Punch Accessories: Linen Thread, 7/8" Cotton Ribbon, Basics Designer Buttons Inky hugs!
Greetings on this marvelous Monday, Stampers! I am happy to report that my DH will be released from the hospital this morning, ahead of schedule as he is doing so well. Yay! That's enough to put me in a good mood for the rest of the day! I created this project for two challenges, the first being the color challenge at Dynamic Duos. The colors in the retired Fan Fair DSP were perfect for this challenge. I was originally planning on using the Stippled Blossom stamp set, but the blossoms looked kind of washed out in Pink Pirouette and Sahara Sand. I eventually decided on using Clay Blossoms instead, and I colored them just a bit with Pink Pirouette ink and a cotton swab. I was all over the layout at Retro Sketches as soon as I saw it. Flowers and doilies and buttons, oh my! You must check out the creations by Lisa who created the sketch. Fabulous and so inspiring! OK, I know I went a little crazy with the embellishments here, but hey, why not? I thought they all looked so pretty together on my collage style vintage card! Scroll down to the supply list to see what all the little goodies are. Hello on this terrific Thursday! Well, it's terrific if you like it hot! Here in NY we are going on day five of temperatures in the high 90's and sometimes over 100. Don't get me wrong, I love the summer and warm weather, but I think my brain is starting to melt a little! As you can see my melting brain couldn't shift off of yesterday's stamp set. That's OK; I really love this stamp set and wanted to try out the two-step blossoms in different color combinations. I used many of the same ingredients as yesterday in different colors, resulting in a totally different feel. Today I stamped the blossoms in Pool Party and Coastal Cabana, and the stems in Pear Pizzazz. I love this color combo! The inspiration for the layout came from Mojo Monday. The basic layout is there but I had to make a couple minor adjustments. My embellishment moved to the right corner as opposed to the left to accommodate my flowers, and my center panel stretched down a bit for the same reason. Yum, yum... I could just eat these colors up, and the embellishments too! The In-Color Boutique Details are so much fun. You only need a glue dot to adhere them. The ruffled ribbon is very light-weight and surprisingly easy to work with. I had to have it in all five colors! Stampin' Up Products Used: Stamp Sets: Too Kind Card Stock: Whisper White, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz Designer Series Paper: Gingham Garden Ink Pads: Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Pear Pizzazz Tools: Big Shot, Framed Tulips Embossing Folder Accessories: Coastal Cabana Ruffled Ribbon, In Color Boutique Details Thanks for visiting and I hope you will leave a comment!
Happy Monday Morning, Stampers! Ok, maybe not everyone is happy about Mondays but it is a new week, a fresh start. Yay! Right? I'll stop before you start throwing imaginary darts at me, LOL! Anywho, I'm posting a card for zero challenges today. I know! So unlike me! About a week ago, hubby and I spent a few days at his brother and sister-in-laws house on the Jersey Shore. It was a wonderful time and this is a thank you card to them. Their home is exquisitely decorated in neutral tones, and I tried to channel Holly's amazing decorating skills a bit with this card. So here are a few details... The background paper is Stampin' Up Typeset DSP. I stamped over it with the images from World of Dreams and Gorgeous Grunge, and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake ink. The focal panels were torn by hand. The center was inked with a clear block, and the other images stamped over it. I ran out of black Candy Dots, so I used a retired black brad. Some Linen Thread ties things up! I carried one of images to the inside of my card. So perfect. ... and a matching envie. By the way, I have begun trying to photograph my pictures outside in natural light. What do you think? I must say it is a diffucult thing to do on the south shore of Long Island as there is always a breeze. And don't even talk to me about snow in the winter! Stampin' Up Product Used: Stamp Sets: World of Dreams, Gorgeous Grunge, Wetlands (inside sentiment) Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Crumb Cake Designer Series Paper: Typeset Ink Pads: Crumb Cake, Basic Gray, Memento Tuxedo Black Tools: Distressing Tool, Stampin' Sponge Accessories: Linen Thread, Nuetral Brads Inky hugs!
Stampers, do you ever have a little paper scrap of something that you think you might use again but you don't know how? And then that little scrap sits around for days, weeks, months or maybe years? I know you do! Read on if you want to hear the evolution of today's project. My inspiration was the awesome sketch by Narelle this week at Freshly Made Sketches. I thought it was an awesome layout to combine some coordinating patterns of DSP. Usually I'll start my card from the inside out, meaning I'll create the focal piece first and then add layers behind it. This time, it was all about the layers and then I was left to figure out what to do for the last layer on top. Tried as I might, I couldn't come up with a stamped image that I liked. Then, as I spilled out my bag of Very Vanilla scraps, out fell this little square of card stock that was leftover when I die cut with my Little Leaves Sizzlit. Perfect, don't you think? All that was left to do was stamp a simple sentiment. I love when that happens! Stampin' Up Products Used: Stamp Sets: Embellished Events Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Crisp Cantaloupe, Rich Razzleberry Designer Series Paper: Birthday Basics Ink Pads: Rich Razzleberry Tools: Big Shot, Little Leaves Sizzlit Accessories: Rich Razzleberry Stitched Satin Ribbon Have an awesome day and an even better week! Inky hugs!

Good morning! Today over at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration, we are sharing projects created using an "Ombre" technique. The ombre technique usually refers to hair now a days, but it can also be related to how we color and decorate a card or project. Ombre, is normally using one color from dark to light. I had about three thoughts in mind and decided to go with a simple card layout to really show off the detail of the coloring and stamping. One of my newest stamp sets that I just added to my collection is "Wetlands". This is such a lovely simple stamp set. So glad I invested in it! With my coloring, I went with the green family. I'm really looking forward to Spring and Summer with everything is bloom along with nice green grass. From light at the top to dark at the bottom, I used, pistachio pudding, wild wasabi and gumball green. To add just a simple detail to my white top layer, I scored two lines on all four sides. I am so glad you decided to stop by today to see my "ombre" project. Don't forget to leave some "love" before heading over to our main blog to see all the other wonderful projects with our design team members.
