Undaunted Courage: Meriwether Lewis, Thomas Jefferson, and the Opening of the American West

  • David Hadeler

A 1996 biography of Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, and the Lewis and Clark Expedition is based on journals by Lewis and Clark and other members of the expedition, it offers insight into the travelers and their thoughts, and outlines the expedition in great detail, from encounters with Native Americans, trading, wildlife, what the explorers ate, and the route the expedition took on its way to the Pacific Coast and back. The text is supplemented by maps, and illustrations drawn by Lewis himself.

This is Condoleezza Rice's account of her time with Pres. George W. Bush as National Security Adviser and Secretary of State. It is over 700 pages. It is very detailed and outlines her participation in world affairs. It is not gossipy and she does not bad mouth current/former administrations. Worth the read.

What can I possibly say about this book? It's one of the best stories and most well-written books ever. Bradbury, as always, relied heavily on his reader's information to fill in the gaps, and usually, I find that sloppy writing, but with this--with this story--it works; like a haunting nightmare hovering on the edge of your memory. Ah, great stories and fantastic writing make me swoon :D

This book was recommended by one of my students. It's not my typical read, but I did find it difficult to put down. Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel which presents a future American society where books are outlawed and firemen burn any house that contains them. By Elizabeth Perez. ' <<< Oh I saw dis at my library! Imma get it along w/ Divergent!

my favorite fiction genre - a little bit of history, psychology and suspense - and of course a serial killer.
