Cubo-futurist composition, Kazimir Malevich, 1912. The usage of many vanishing points yet a somehow coherent (non possible) structure provides tension.. and an interesting treat for the eyes.

Roy Lichtenstein, Alka Seltzer, 1966 (Roy Lichtenstein had been exhibiting in galleries for 10 years when he dramatically changed the course of his work. Prompted by the comic strips on his children's gum wrappers, he began to create paintings based on cartoon images. The reductive style that soon emerged became his particular contribution to the idiom known as Pop Art. From 1961 until 1968, he created a group of b/w drawings that show his subversive use of commercial illustration styles)
PABLO PICASSO (Spanish): Three Musicians, 1921. Oil on canvas, 6' 7" x 7' 3 3/4" (200.7 x 222.9 cm)MoMA. The patterned flatness of the work is derived from cut–and–pasted paper, and stands in stark contrast to the sculptural monumentality of Picasso's Three Women at the Spring, also painted in the summer of 1921. (MoMA)

Pablo Picasso (Spanish, Cubism, 1881-1973): Three Musicians, 1921. Oil on canvas, Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY, USA.This work is widely regarded as Picasso's greatest Cubist masterpiece. "... features a Harlequin, a Pierrot, and a monk, who are generally believed to represent Picasso, Guillaume Apollinaire, and Max Jacob, respectively. Apollinaire and Jacob, both poets, had been close friends of Picasso during the 1910s ..." 1013216_536594153061770_304684842_n.jpg (960×859)

Three Musicians by Pablo Picasso. 1921. Oil on Canvas. MOMA NY. In the painting there are 3 musicians depicted. From the left we can see a masked Perriot playing the clarinet. Next to him a Harlequin with a guitar and on the right side a singing monk. The Harlequin as well as the Periot are common themes in Picasso's Paintings. The dark hues on the painting show a solemn feeling towards the musicians. We can also perceive this painting as whimsical due to the almost unseen dog.
Text + image from Mid-Centuria. Though Italian artist Gino Severini (1883-1966) is probably best known for his involvement with the Futurist Movement, his work was also influenced by Divisionism, Neo-Classicism, Cubism and the "return to order" movements. Severini moved between Paris and Rome for much of his life and was considered an important link between artists in France and Italy; introducing his Italian Futurist colleagues to Cubism which he experienced in Paris.
