Just tried this and it works like a champ. Put a crumpled piece of tin foil in the bottom of a pan. Lay jewelry out in a single layer. Cover with baking soda. Pour boiling water on top. Mix with a plastic or wooden spoon until bubbling stops. Rinse and repeat if necessary. Not good for jewelry with gems.
The easiest best way to polish silver jewelry. Trust me, it's even how we do it in the studio! Way better than any cleaner or cream I've tried.

Cleaning silver jewlery You will need: Boiling Water A Glass or Plastic Dish (I just used an old piece of tupperware) Aluminum Foil Baking Soda A plastic or wooden spoon (I actually used the other end of a paint brush) Here is my tarnished jewelry. Put some water either on the stove or in the microwave and get it to a boil. While you are waiting for the water to boil, slighly crinkle up the aluminum foil and place it on the bottom of your dish. Put all your jewerly in a single layer making sure the silver is touching the foil. Sprinkle a layer of Baking Soda over everything. Pour the boiling water over everything. Be careful obviously because the water is boiling!! You should see some bubbling and will also notice a bit of a rotten egg odor, that's the sulfuric gases. Using your wooden or plastic spoon, gently move the silver around, flip it over, etc. making sure all of it touches the aluminum foil. You will notice your silver becoming brighter! Once it is all back to that shiny silvery goodness, carefully remove your pieces and rinse them under tap water. **If you have any small pieces like rings or earrings, make sure to close the drain so you don't lose anything! Dry your pieces off with a soft towel and Viola!! Nice clean jewerly!
