my mom lived in an apartment in NYC, with two children and a her spouse, for $180/month. It was described as being horrifyingly expensive. Now that same apartment was turned into a coop and last sold for $400,000. YIKES.
I remember those days!

drive-in movie speaker, my parents popped popcorn at home and made a gallon of coolaid for us to take..
My family popped popcorn and put it in a brown paper grocery bag and made a sack full of grilled hamburgers to take to the drive in :-)
