I did this to the roller blinds in our kitchen and they look really nice, but I used heavy housewares fabric so my shaded no longer roll, they are stationary. It's not a good long term shade for me, so I'll either have to buy new fabric and redo or get new shades b/c we change the length all the time. Or we used to... custom roller shades. This is a fabulous idea. You are completely dismantling a store bought shade and making a new one out of medium weight fabric. But I'm wondering if you could take a lightweight fabric and fuse it to the existing shade. Would be alot easier.
Cover a pull down shade with fabric of your choice. Great idea!---- This was SO easy and the shades really look awesome. Shades were $4 each at Walmart, fabric was $13. Total for whole project only $21! I added valances to the top to hide the roll.
