A story and history not well known, sad to have happened at all. I remember being in a number of Florida turpentine camps when I was a kid thinking to myself "something is very wrong here". Over the last few years I have had the pleasure of several conversations with Stetson Kennedy(recently deceased). He had a role in the "Slave Chronicles" and spent a lifetime working for and in the civil rights movement. Many more people should know more of Stetson Kennedy and his life.

"NEGROES BEWARE. Do Not Attend Communist Meetings...Paid organizers for the communists are only trying to get negroes in trouble. Alabama is a good place for good negroes to live in, but it is a bad place for negroes who believe in SOCIAL EQUALITY.", paid for by Alabama Ku Klux Klan c1930's
escapedosmil: I thought this was relevant to the last post you were debating in. Remember where it all began. The entire anti-socialist/communist movement in the U.S. is rooted in KKK propaganda and anti-civil rights ideals. They believed the U.S. was no place for communism because black people should not believe in social equality. Just putting this out there.
From an Alabama Ku Klux Klan poster, 1930's. Crazy that people acted like this. Even scarier some people still do.

A major purchaser of Florida tomatoes, Publix Super Markets, continues to ignore the pleas of religious leaders and Florida consumers to join the growing list of firms that have pledged to abolish exploitation and slavery in our fields. By claiming that it bears no responsibility for the conditions of the men and women who pick the crops that help generate enormous profits, Publix ignores the wishes of its own customers who have been petitioning the company on this matter for more than 2 years.

AN AFRICAN American teenager murdered in the South. His killer goes unpunished. The authorities and local media blame the victim. But his death sparks a mass movement against racism. That could describe the case of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Florida in February 2012. But it's also the story of 14-year-old Emmett Till, who was killed by members of the Ku Klux Klan in Money, Miss., in 1955.

The resemblance is uncanny. You have to keep things like this in mind to inspire you do something to change it.
He is a african american teenager who was shot and his murderer was not punished because the victim which is him was blamed by the media. This seems very racist, I'm sure if it was a white kid the murderer would have life sentence.
Trayvon Martin and Emmett Till....history always seems to repeats itself...God bless their parents. Lord..you are still King of Kings and a merciful God. Judgement will come to all!!!!
