With the Recreation and Open Space Planner, a landscape designer and a Marketing Officer at the City of Salisbury we designed a game to engage groups around planning their local reserve/playspace when it came up for renewal. Using a mapped overview of the space, a shopping list, images and a ficticious budget with real ficticious money, groups get time to plan a space by playing the role of different community members. It was fun & the results can be used by the planners for future sustaiability

At NRSAMDB I'm working with 3 local councils in the Riverland in partnership with the local vets, Animal Welfare League and Dog & Cat Management Board to look at the issue of good management. We are focussing on Domestic and Semi-owned cats and in 2016 will be looking at running a Community Based Social Marketing (CBSM) project to enact a behavioural change in the community and will hopefully work with UniSA on their cat tracker project.

We put together a campaign to try and get a Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food 'Pop up Kitchen' to Salisbury. We had no budget but had fun making this short video. G'day Jamie Oliver - Jamie Does Salisbury

At the City of Salisbury I sit in the Marketing Division. The Marketing Division is always busy ensuring the community get the right information at the right time about what is happening in Council. Producing the Salisbury Aware Magazine and updating the website are just a few tasks they do to make sure this happens daily. Within Marketing the Community Engagement Officer also works to increase the Council's engagement with the community whether face to face or online - thats me!

Award win for the Community Engagement project around the renewal of the Heyford Reserve in the City of Salisbury. A project that had full collaboration and once compleated should also include some community ownership and empowerment through the introduction of a fruit tree orchard.

In the last 13 years of running community engagement sessions I think this was the fluffiest participant I'd ever have take part. Wallaby joey on Kangaroo Island attending a community engagement 101 session with the local NRM team.

On Saturday 28 September staff engaged with the community of St Kilda about the iconic playground in their township. Using a Community Cafe approach the Community Engagement Officer, Andrew Coulson, designed a number of activities for residents to take part in over 2 hours. Here a simple map, option cards and a bit of imagination allows residents take part in design options for the reserve area. Smaller version of the map were made available for children to draw and write their ideas on.
