The Black Magician Trilogy by Trudi Canavan. The trilogy picks up hundreds of years later in the same world as "The Magician's Apprentice" (must read 1st) and I felt genuinely sad at the thought that the prequel's characters would have long finished their lives by the time of this trilogy. Canavan's characters really won my heart, in all books
Age of Five Trilogy - The best trilogy I ever read. Couldn't put the books aside, because they were just WONDERFUL, BREATHTAKING, STUNNING and although the story played in a fantasy world, there is a connection to real problems. I highly recommend this masterpiece full of tension and emotions, written in such a great way that you really get caught by the story. Trudi Canavan is just fabulous!
Tawny Man Series by Robin Hobb - This series is a continuation of the Farseer Trilogy. I cannot say enough what an adept fantasy writer Ms. Hobb seems to be. This series and the Farseer Trilogy hover always near the top of my list of favorite books because they're such a complete departure from the real world. Major kudos to Ms. Hobb for this and The Farseer Trilogy.
