Monchichi

Monchichi monchichi, oh so soft and cuddliy? With their thumb in their mouth they're very sweet, and that's all. I loved my Monchichi it was my favorite thing when I was young I wish I still had that thing.

Clackers - Do you remember these? We had some orange ones. They were recalled off of the market because they exploded sometimes.

The most dangerous toy ever - glass, yes, glass, "clackers" and yes, I had these suckers they hurt if u missed. But fun

A weekly (um, thus the name) highlight of elementary school was exploring the Weekly Reader. We also ordered books through Weekly Reader and Scholastic and anxiously awaited their delivery. I remember once mistakenly ordering Misty of Chincoteague (I was not into horses at all) and feeling crestfallen when it arrived, but I read it of course (I mean, it was a book after all), and thereby fell in love with all the Marguerite Henry books.

Weekly Reader - current events all through grade school. My favorite thing about elementary school!

Scorching hot metal slides. Can still feel the burn on the back of my legs.

Hot sun on metal playground slides. But was still fun - especially if you used a sheet of waxed paper under your butt to go faster!

Playing jacks.  We didn't have computers or television geared towards children back in the day.  We entertained ourselves playing jacks and building houses from a deck of cards -- the simple life.
