krizia 83 - looks like art-deco architecture In 1983 Mandelli – considered at the time as a sort of Italian Issey Miyake – created two iconic designs, a jumpsuit and a long gown in silver metallic cellulose acetate inspired by the decorative arches of the Chrysler Building, a classic example of Art Deco architecture.

The Chrysler Building NYC, NY ~ Designed by William Van Alen and quite possibly the pinnacle in sleek Art Deco style architecture, the Chrysler Building was completed in 1930. This icon was the world’s tallest building until it was bested by the Empire State Building in 1931, and is...even now... the third tallest building in New York City at 1,048 feet and 77 floors.

The Chrysler Building, NYC - Explored! :D 1/12/2012 The Chrysler Building: Standing at 1,047 feet, it was the world's tallest building for 11 months before it was surpassed by the Empire State Building in 1931. After the destruction of the World Trade Center, it was again the second-tallest building in New York City until December 2007, when the spire was raised on the 1,200 foot Bank of America Tower, pushing the Chrysler Building into third position. In addition, The New York Times Building, which opened in 2007, is exactly level with the Chrysler Building in height. Both buildings were then pushed into 4th position, when the under construction, One World Trade Center, surpassed their height. -wikipedia-

Chrysler Building, Manhattan, New York City, pinned by Ton van der Veer

"Do skyscrapers ever grow tired/ Of holding themselves up high?/ Do they ever shiver on frosty nights/ With their tops against the sky?/ Do they feel lonely sometimes,/ Because they have grown so tall?/ Do they ever wish they could lay right down/ And never get up at all?" poetess: Rachel Field.

Flatiron Building, NYC...yes, but look at the beautiful wrought iron lights in from of it...

Chrysler Building. Way back when I was a foot messenger for a lithographic company, yeah, there used to be such a thing, I made a delivery in the Chrysler Building. The interior is spectacular, this blows away the Empire State building for sheer beauty, while still rising impressively high in the 21st century Manhattan skyline.
