    On May 29, 1962 Buck O'Neil became the first black coach in Major League Baseball. His previous career had been with the Kansas City Monarchs as a first baseman and manager, and he was signed as a scout by the Chicago Cubs in 1955. O'Neill was featured in Ken Burns' 1994 baseball documentary and was instrumental in establishing the Negro League Baseball Museum. #TodayInBlackHistory
