Being a parent is a really tough job. I made parenthood far harder than it needed to be by taking on jobs that were not mine.

Is it Right to Write About My Kids? Thoughtful article about blogging about our children.
It Is Not My Job to Make My Kids Happy - "...I made parenthood far harder than it needed to be by taking on jobs that were not mine. My job is to love and care for my kids, to make them feel safe and teach them to navigate the world into which they will venture. My job is to teach my sons the set of values, rightly or wrongly, that their father and I hold dear. My job is to launch educated, good, responsible men."
@grownandflown writes about all of parenthood because it never ends, not even after they leave. I love their blog title. It makes me jealous. I with I had thought of it. It frames the whole "empty nest" thing, a phrase that is soooooo damn negative, in a way that I can appreciate. I use the phrase done nesting, but I'd have used "grown and flown" if I'd have thought of it first. So the least I can do it pay a #ff tribute.

This is such a beautiful idea. I'm going to start doing it with my kids. Use your nighttime routine to foster open communication with your child. Talking about these things will helps your child go to bed happily and peacefully, and will warm your heart at the same time!
A great way to connect with your kids at the end of the day What is something that made you smile today? What is something that made you cry today? What is something that you learned today?

Love this idea! Consequences That Actually Work! "Forced apologies don’t teach true remorse and reconciliation... Parents can set kids up for sincere reconciliation. ...Restitution consequences encourage personal responsibility and usually end with one child feeling cared for and the other feeling caring."

Sometimes saying NO! can be a blessing. Allowing your child to sit in their mistakes and expecting them to take responsibility for what they have created is an opportunity for growth. We have become a society that doesn't want our children to "feel Bad" but in doing so we have robbed them of all their lessons!
