Bombay Sapphire Gin is one of the more popular premium gins. It is based on a 1761 recipe created by pioneering English distiller Thomas Dakin. While most gins steep their botanicals directly in the alcohol, Bombay uses a special Carterhead still, purchased by the Dakin family in 1831, to flavor the spirit when it’s in a vapor state. It’s not overwhelming on any of the botanicals, which makes it ideal for mixing into any gin cocktail.
