Vocabulary Activity #1: Vocabulary Spinner This could be used with vocabulary words from all subjects. The teacher could write a word on a slip of paper and place it in a paper bag. Students could choose a word and spin the spinner to see how they get to express their knowledge of the word.

This vocab game might be worth a shot for secondary students...For the activity, toss vocabulary words in a lunch bag. Kids flick the game spinner, then pull out a word. Once they have their word, the fun begins! Students act, draw, rhyme, or define their word. They might also have to put it in a sentence, name what part of speech it is, or give a synonym or antonym for it. It's a game of chance!

I like this idea as an in class way to help students learn their spelling words. This will not only help them to spell them but also learn the meaning of them. The only thing I dislike like about this is that it asks for an antonym and synonym when all words may not have a direct opposite or mean the same as another word.
