LOVE this idea! Make Your Own Platform Bed. Assemble your own platform bed from architectural salvage to create one-of-a-kind cottage style. An old mantel is attached to the wall to serve as a headboard. The mattress platform is fashioned from old doors resting on sturdy rails made from new lumber stained dark to disappear. The platform extends beyond the mattress to serve as a low bedside table.

I could climb into this bed every night. Just a dream... my husband would never go for it.

place of a headboard, a salvaged mantel gives this bedroom architectural flair. The more distressed the better for a vintage look like this

Shabby Chic--be still my heart! What a romantic headboard. (Insert pleasant sigh)

I love the textures, and the idea of a "headboard" with a night stand and lamp attached.

Sack bed! If you could get this design printed onto cotton rather than actual scratchy sack it'd be great!

This faux fireplace is very effective because it effectively uses layering to add to the fool the eye arrangement. On first glance, the iron headboard appears to be a fire screen. Attention then moves to the arrangement on the mantle and the mirrors above it. The flower arrangement further distracts from the faux.
