Create an Ombre Effect For a more subtle staircase accent, create a trendy ombre look like John Colaneri and Anthony Carrino (pictured) did here on HGTV's Cousins Undercover. Start at the bottom with a favorite hue, then add a little more white paint to the mix each time you move up to the next riser.

Using test pots of paint, this home's designer coated the uprights of this staircase in twos, pairing them off on adjacent steps and graduating the tone from light to dark to create an ombre effect all the way up the banister. So easy to do, such a striking effect!

I love the idea of a "ranch" or one floor house, but if we had a staircase, i am very fond of this idea :) also, no carpet on stairs, as a reminder for self, since i tend to fall down them all the time and they are a major pain in the rear to vacuum.

Cool idea with the staircase, the rest needs to be sober though, dunno if I can manage that... ;)

Ombre wall. Love the subtlety here. Very gradual movement of colors. This is beautiful and I'm not a pink person. But great idea. This would add light to my wall, movement. Without being garish and obvious. I don't want a paint chip on my wall or furniture for goodness sake.

Perfect Entry way. Well, I would go with a pale slate color on the walls, but everything else, perfection.
