The Georgia Genealogical Society is a nonprofit volunteer organization, which was founded as a friend of the Georgia Department of Archives and History in 1964. Its purposes include raising the standards of genealogical research over the State through education and publication, promoting the collection and preservation of the early records of the Colony and State of Georgia, and assisting the Georgia Department of Archives and History in building its genealogical collection.
