    Great picture book list for kids.

    Loved the film, heard the author and one of the main actors in interview, so all that was left was to read the book. The first few chapters were so evocative that the film felt flat in comparison. Further along, the film really kicked in with its wonderful acting and eccentric character portrayal. The story follows the journey of a lively Indian family from Mumbai to London and finally to a small village in France where they open a restaurant opposite a famous chef…fun and games ensue! -suneeta

    PETER BRUNER (1845–1938), was born a slave in Kentucky. He escaped enslavement to join the Union Army during the Civil War. After the war, he married and raised a family in Ohio. Collaborating with his daughter, Carrie Burns, he wrote an autobiography - "A Slave's Adventures Toward Freedom; Not Fiction, but the True Story of a Struggle". He was the first African American male to work at Miami University.
