Born the only child of WJ and Frances Watson in Savannah, Georgia, Gracie's father was the Resident Manager of the Pulaski House Hotel where she grew up. She developed pneumonia at the age of six, succumbing at Easter time, to the devastation of her parents and is buried at the family plot in Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah, Georgia
Gracie Watson 1882 - 1889 Gracie succumbed to Pneumonia two days before Easter 1889. Her father was manager of the Pulaski House, one of Savannah’s leading hotels, where the beautiful and charming little girl was a favorite with the guests. In 1890, when the rising sculptor, John Walz, moved to Savannah, he carved e carved from a photograph this life-sized, delicately detailed marble statue of Gracie.
