The more I understand what happens to a person with ALS and how little advancement there has been in any treatment or cure, the more I know I don't just want to walk- I HAVE to walk. Please consider walking with me or sponsoring me. With your help, we will be able to make a difference! A product from the company Tobii lets Gleason use his eyes to control a monitor attached to his chair. He's then able to write messages — including tweets and an email interview for this article — and browse the web despite not having enough muscle function to do so manually. Also able to move around, speak, open doors and control appliances. Not the only one benefiting. His foundation recently constructed the Team Gleason House for Innovative Living, for ALS patients.

I'm participating in the 2012 Walk to Defeat ALS in Charlotte NC in support of my brother who was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease in 2009. My family and I have participated in the Triangle Walk but this is my first year at the Charlotte Walk. I'd love for my Pinterest friends to make a donation or, if you're in the area, join the team and walk with me! Details are all on the website. Thanks!
