The dial reinforces the well known image of the M and also is suggesting the idea that it's time to eat whichever food it has landed on. It's a clever way of incorporating the outdoor element into the advertisement.

Volkswagen Beetle Slowmercial. Poorly executed in my opinion, I've been wanting to experiment with this idea for ages. Shame they haven't took full avantage. More of a gimmick to mark territory.
How do brands keep consumers interested when all they want is press fast-forward on the TiVo? In response to "ad-skippers" VW lauched their "Slowmercial" designed to work in real time as a TV spot but also functioned as a print ad if fast-forwarded. This shows how well VW understands the evolving market and consumer. But more importantly this proves that instead of fighting against a problem, you should work with your problem and develop an imaginative solution that bends to fit consumer needs.
