    Austin bats-According to experts, Austin is home to the largest urban bat population in North America. Come August, thousands of bats and their young participate in nightly excursions to rid the city of pesky insects before heading back south in the fall. It's nearly impossible to be unimpressed by the nightly mass exodus. And you can learn more about these nocturnal creatures at an educational kiosk located on the south bank of the river.
