Betsy Ross is renowned as the person to have sewn the first American flag. She was born Jan 1, 1752 and died Jan 30, 1836. The stars stood for the first thirteen colonies. #betsyross #americanflag #redwhiteandblue

Have you ever wondered who actually designed the first American Flag? In 1870, Betsy Ross's daughter, Rachel Fletcher showed her Mother a drawing from a brainstorming session by the Flag Committee. She had some critiques...she felt the flag should be one third longer than its width, that the stars should be either in lines or in a circle, or a star. The stars were six-pointed in the drawing and she believed they should be five-pointed. So Rachel was the designer of the first American Flag.
